Should I choose a Plug in or Wire in Galvanic Isolator? Corrosion

We’re often asked which type of Galvanic isolator is most effective… Plug in, or Wired in. Truth is, it makes absolutely NO difference. The internal components are exactly the same, so both offer the same high level of protection from Galvanic corrosion.

Our advice is that unless you are familiar with electrical wiring, it’s better to go with a plug in type, which needs NO installation at all (other than plugging it in).

That said, if you are happy to get your hands dirty, our wire in isolators are extremely neat and compact, and provided you faithfully follow the (pretty simple) installation instructions, fitting a wire in model shouldn’t take very long at all.

But again, in terms of protecting your boat from Galvanic corrosion, both do precisely the same job, and are equally effective.
